Federal Employees Compensation Act (FECA)

If you have an accepted condition/illness under OWCP, you may be entitled to a Schedule Award

FECA Benefits:

FECA compensation benefits are payable in several different ways including continuation of pay benefits, Schedule Awards, partial disability, full disability, and death benefits. Payment occurs when the employee suffers a permanent partial or total disability as a result of an on-the-job illness or injury.

A Schedule Award under FECA is compensation provided for specified periods of time for the permanent loss of or loss of use of certain members and functions of the body as the result of a traumatic injury or illness that occurred while on the job. A Schedule Award is performed once the claimant has achieved Maximum Medical Improvement (i.e. the condition is stabilized and is unlikely to improve with additional medical treatment). The calculation of a payment involves the employee’s compensation rate, the number of weeks allowed on the Schedule for the injured body part, and the percentage of permanent impairment of the body part that is calculated in your impairment rating.
