Schedule Awards

A Schedule Award can only be paid under OWCP with the submission of a specialized examination and report prepared by a medical doctor in accordance with the strict requirements of the OWCP and American Medical Association’s Guides to Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 6th Edition. Most physicians are not familiar with the strict requirements under OWCP or in preparing reports in accordance with the AMA Guides, 6th Edition.

YOU, NOT DOL, are entitled to choose your treating physician for your covered condition/conditions and to choose the physician that performs the impairment report for your Schedule Award. It is common to have a separate physician treating you for your injury/illness, and another preparing the impairment rating.

If you have an open claim under OWCP, Meals & Tolar will prepare the impairment report for your Schedule Award at NO COST TO YOU. We will bill DOL directly for these services.

While we are always happy to see our claimants at our clinic in Kentucky, in cases where claimants are either unable or unwilling to come to Kentucky, we are able to make the necessary arrangements and prepare your report via telemedicine.
